Laureen Bagley, a partner with Sloan, Bagley, Hatcher & Perry Law Firm, has been elected to membership in the prestigious Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. The firm has offices in Houston and Longview, Texas.
The Texas Bar Foundation is the largest charitably-funded bar foundation in the nation, with the mission of soliciting charitable contributions to provide funding to enhance the rule of law and the system of justice in Texas. It supports programs that encourage legal assistance for the needy, education of the public, and ethics in the legal profession. To date, the Texas Bar Foundation has distributed more than $14 million throughout Texas to assist non-profit organizations with a wide range of justice-related programs and services.
Fellows of the Foundation are selected for their outstanding professional achievements and their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout the state of Texas. Election to the Foundation is a mark of distinction and highlights Bagley’s contributions to the legal profession. Selection as a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation is restricted to members of the State Bar of Texas. Each year, only one-third of one percent of State Bar members is invited to become a Fellow. Once nominees are selected, they must then be elected by the Texas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. Since the Texas Bar Foundation’s inception in 1965, membership has grown from an initial 254 Charter Fellows to more than 7,500 Fellows throughout Texas.
“We are so proud of Laureen and her many accomplishments as a lawyer. This is one more recognition of her unwavering dedication to her profession and her clients,” commented John Sloan, founding partner of Sloan, Bagley, Hatcher & Perry.
Bagley, who joined Sloan, Bagley, Hatcher & Perry in 1999, has almost 30 years of legal experience. She has successfully prosecuted cases in California, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Delta State University in 1979 and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Tulane University of Louisiana in 1986.
She was admitted to the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas for her unselfish efforts on behalf of those who could not otherwise afford legal representation.
