Texas Personal Injury Lawyer
Jaime I. Perez was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and came to Houston, Texas at a young age with his family, where he has stayed and made his home. As the bilingual son of hardworking immigrant parents, Jaime grew up among and between two beautiful cultures, developing an appreciation for the diverse melting pot that Texas is. Events that occurred during Jaime’s early years would lay the path to his future career in the law.
The decision to become a lawyer was made by Jaime earlier than most, and every action was with that goal in mind. Jaime highly values his time in the service industry before becoming a lawyer, where he attributes learning invaluable skills and experiences that he uses on a daily basis working with and for his clients. Jaime’s belief is that a lawyer should be the guide, the fixed point, for clients going through uncertain and dark times.
Jaime attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he graduated with a BA in Psychology, a minor in Philosophy, and a concentration in Mexican American Studies. During his time at UTSA, he honed his organizational and leadership skills serving for three years as the UTSA chapter president of Omega Delta Phi, a multicultural fraternal organization dedicated to hands-on community service. There he volunteered with multiple non-profit organizations such as the South Texas Blood & Tissue Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and Ronald McDonald House.
After being admitted to South Texas College of Law, Jaime would serve as a student attorney for the Immigration Law Clinic, working on cases involving unaccompanied minors, adjustment of statuses, and naturalization applications. During his time at South Texas, Jaime would earn a CALI Award (highest class grade) in Legal Research and Writing II, would intern with the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Attorney General Consumer Protection Division, and serve as a law clerk at a prestigious Houston immigration firm. Jaime graduated Cum Laude in the class of 2018 and passed the bar exam that same year.
Jaime has since dedicated his entire post-graduation legal career serving Texas personal injury plaintiffs by taking depositions, drafting and arguing motions, negotiating settlements, performing legal research, and preparing for trial. Jaime joined Sloan Firm in December of 2019, where he continues to fight for his clients.
Jaime is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Mexican American Bar Association of Houston. Outside of work Jaime enjoys working out in outdoor boot camps and indoor spin classes, but also enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, being active in a book club, watching movies, trying new restaurants, and traveling when the opportunity arises.
